This simple question is something that many people who have just discovered Notion ask themselves.
My task is approaching its due date. When is that pop-up going to come around?
Well, Notion has no notifications by default. So it won’t, but it can, once you make it.
Here’s exactly what you need in order to start seeing these mobile notifs actually happen.
Simple pages don’t have due dates, so they’ll never send notifs. In case you’re still using pages instead of databases, it’s time to up your Notion game! Here is a useful resource in case you're curious how to :)
Once you’re in your task and have your Due date property set, enter it again, and navigate to the Remind section. Right there, you can choose when exactly this task is going to bump you:
And there you go!
All in all, notifs in Notion are still quite inconvenient to set - you can get them, but is it worth it to click through a menu after a menu on each and every task you create?
Well, in my opinion it never was. I spend half of each of my days rummaging through my work and personal Notion spaces though, so that might be a factor to consider here x) It might be worth it for you!
Sooner or later, native Notion Automations might make this far more streamlined for us, but that's future talk. Let's keep following Notion updates and see where they take notifs from there!
Now, this might sound crazy, but the very lack of these notifs has played a real part in motivating me to stay with Notion for real, for a longer period of time.
Somehow, the fact that I knew my phone won’t just show that one task at that specific time, has made me open Notion far more. It made me effectively plan out more things, while I was reviewing and reinforcing the work on my previous entries.
Is that what that entire FOMO thingy is? Haha, perhaps a bit x)
It’s the first time I thought of this term with any sort of a positive implication 😄
Well, now you know how to set reminders! Till next!
